Obituary

Somersworth:   Joseph "Andy" Allaire age 89 of 29 Rouleau Drive, died peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, December 20th at The Pines in Newmarket, NH.

Born and raised in Sanford, ME on December 9th, 1928, he was the son of Amadee and Annie (Buchanan) Allaire.

He had lived in Somersworth since 1964. He was an avid tennis player and sports fanatic.  He loved to watch the Patriots and Red Sox, as well as movies and Jeopardy on TV.  He looked forward to visiting the library where he would pick up new books and movies each week.  He retired from GE in 1989 after 25 years of service. He worked part time at the Federal Savings Bank of Dover and he also worked for the Somersworth High School Cafeteria program.

He was an Air Force Veteran in the Korean War. He spent 6 years active and 3 years in the Air Force Reserves.  He served overseas at Wheelus AFB in Tripoli, Libya.  He was a member of the American Legion Post 47 Rollinsford, NH and of the Loyal Order of Moose 443 in Dover NH.  He was involved in the Dover Senior Center and a Lifetime GEEA Member.  He was a devoted Catholic and served as an Usher at St Martin's Church in Somersworth, NH.

Joe is survived by his two daughters, Andrea Doyon and her husband Norman of Rollinsford and Caroline Morgan and her husband Troy of Somersworth.  Four grandchildren, Heather Messier and her husband Eric of Connecticut, Brian Doyon and his wife Libia of Somersworth, and Cassidy and Carson Morgan of Somersworth.  Three great grandchildren Tyler, Sean and Brienna Messier of Connecticut and several nieces of nephews.

Joe was pre-deceased by his wife of 54 years, Rita (Boucher) Allaire of Somersworth.  His 11 siblings, Don Allaire of Dover NH, Raymond Allaire of Wells Beach ME, Robert Allaire, Helen Vigue, Stella Dion, Diana Bourque, Irene Hupe and Roger Allaire of Sanford ME, Larry Allaire of Montgomery AL, Lil Perron and Claire Gorman of Farmington NH.

Calling hours will be on Friday, December 29th, from 4pm to 7pm at Bernier Funeral Home, 49 South St. Somersworth NH.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 30th at 11am at St Ignatius of Loyola Parish at St Martin Church, 120 Maple Street, Somersworth with Fr. Andrew Nelson, as celebrant.  The family respectfully declines flowers and requests that memorial contributions be made in Joseph's name to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org.
