Joseph
Jenkins
Feb 13, 1954 — Nov 15, 2023
Joseph David Jenkins came into this world on the evening of February 13, 1954, to Thomas and Helene Jenkins. Little did they know, a legend had been born. Joseph grew up spending a small amount of time in Florida before settling on River Rd in Eliot, ME. Missing part of his right arm at birth only gave this legend a nickname, Lefty. Nothing set this man back. He played football, taught people to swim, and had the vital job of being a big brother to Bryan & Russell.
His zest for life was contagious. Lefty knew everyone & everyone loved him. His sense of humor provided non-stop jokes and stories that would keep the whole room laughing. He was a great friend to many and would help whenever he was called upon.
He married the love of his life, Rebecca Emery, and they had Amanda & Jason together. Through the early years in the cabin they built and eventually landing on Adlington Rd, the family dynamics changed, but Love held the unit together as a family. He called his daughter Amanda the boss, his true "daddy's little girl. He never missed sending her flowers on her birthday. Joe and his son Jason were each other's heroes…. both are so proud of each other. Joe loved to watch his son play baseball. He never missed a practice or a game.
Joe was blessed with a granddaughter, Cassidy, who was lovingly nick-named Gooch the day she was born. She always made her Grandpa Joe smile!
Joe's other passion in life was truck driving. This provided his occupation, a considerable group of friends he considered his family, and his girlfriend, Jennifer Hughes. They were able to travel to Florida often. Joe loved to spend time at the camp he named Paradise Pines, sitting on the porch with their dog Lola.
Joe loved to be home, sitting in his recliner watching Westerns and the 3 Stooges. You could also catch him visiting his beloved Mother, Helene, or down at the Legion with a beer in his hand, a smile, and a story that will leave you in tears.
This Legend will be missed!
Joe is survived by a very loving family: his mother, Helene Jenkins, of Eliot; his brother Bryan & wife, Ann Jenkins of Eliot; his brother Russell Jenkins of South Berwick; his daughter, Amanda Jenkins of Rochester; his son Jason & wife Dawn Jenkins of S. Berwick, three grandchildren Cassidy Jenkins, Adlai & Daphne Sciascia, Rebecca Jenkins & Sharon Demeritt of Rochester, his girlfriend Jenn Hughes of Weeki Wachee, FL, many nieces and nephews, many friends and his Florida family. He was predeceased by his father, Thomas Jenkins of Eliot, ME.
There will be no services at this time.
A Celebration of life will be planned for the Spring of 2024,
