Joseph Raymond Reilly of Brentwood, NH, formerly of Kittery Point, ME peacefully passed away on January 21 after an extended illness.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA on July 24, 1937 to Raymond and Isabelle Reilly, Joe attended Coughlin High School and upon graduation enlisted the United States Marine Corps. After being honorably discharged he joined the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, DC. His badge number was 1817 and he served from 1960 to 1980. From 1985 to 2005 he worked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Patsy M. Reilly. He is survived by a brother, John Reilly of Toms River, NJ and two children, Chris Reilly of York, PA and Amy Reilly of Brentwood. Joe was the loving grandfather of three, Patrick, William and Claire Reilly of York.
Proud of his military service, Joe was an active member of the Marine Order of the Devil Dogs Seacoast Detachment 349. He was also a member in good standing of the DC Association of Retired Police Officers.
At Joe's request funeral services will be private. Those wishing to honor his memory should thank a US military veteran for their service.
