Kittery- Karl August Whitney Jr., 72 of Dennett Road in Kittery died on October 14, 2017 at Wentworth Douglass Hospital in Dover following a long struggle with failing health.
Born in Exeter NH he was a son of the late Karl Sr. and Marjorie L ( Staples) Whitney, he attended school in Eliot Maine. Following school he served his country as a member of the United States Navy.
Karl worked for over forty years as an over the road trucker from Canada to Florida for many years as well as many other parts of the country. Retiring from ARBO Trucking in Kittery.
He was an active outdoorsman, enjoying lifetime membership in the Southern Maine Fish and Game Club where he was very active.
He is survived by his loving family, wife Margaret "Peggy" (Cathcart) Whitney of Kittery, children Jason, Jermy, Jon " Derek", Amanda, and Kayla, six grandchildren and siblings Mary Chance, Janice Beaulieu, Dennis Whitney, Dolores Chambers and Peter and Donnie Dow.
A memorial service will be celebrated at a later date at the Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery in Springvale, Maine. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.jspelkeyfuneralhome.com .
