Katherine Louise Tapley Cummings
April 11, 1961 – December 24, 2024

Katherine Louise Tapley Cummings passed away in the loving arms of her brother and sister on December 24, 2024. Kathy was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, niece, friend, Grammy, and, above all, a devoted mother. Her light shone brightly through her kindness, love, and unwavering support for those she cherished.

Born on April 11, 1961 to Philip and Janice Tapley, Kathy was a true military brat, experiencing the world through her travels before eventually settling in New Castle, where she graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1980. Her life was one of compassion and service, finding her true calling as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) on the dementia unit at Edgewood Manor in Portsmouth. Kathy's nurturing spirit and dedication to caregiving left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered.

Kathy's greatest joy in life was her family, particularly her grandchildren. She was affectionately known as Grammy K to James and Liam who were the lights of her life. She cherished every moment with them.

Kathy was predeceased by her father, Philip H. Tapley. She leaves behind her mother, Janice Tapley, her daughter April Cummings her spouse Miles Cummings and their two children, James and Liam. Her siblings Stephanie Miller, Alison Kras, and Sheldon Tapley. Her nieces and nephews, Nicholas Miller, Caroline Kras, Daniel Miller, and Shannon Tapley. And her two favorite great-nieces Kiley and Katie Miller.

She was taken from us too soon, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her love for her family and friends will never be forgotten, and her memory will continue to inspire those who knew her to live with kindness, generosity, and love.

All are invited to join her family at a memorial service celebrating her life, it will be held on Friday January 3, 2024 at 11am in the JS Pelkey and Son Funeral Home 125 Old Post Road Kittery Maine 03904 with refreshments to follow.
