Kay Lee Snow
May 30, 1945 - July 10, 2026
Kay Lee Snow, 81, of York, Maine, passed away on July 10, 2026, at Maine Medical Center. Kay was born on May 30, 1945, in Honolulu, Hawaii. She was the daughter of the late Dan and Lila Johnson. Kay graduated from Eliot High School and earned her teaching degree in Elementary Education from The Perry Normal School. She began her career as a kindergarten teacher until she and her husband, Bob, started their family with the births of Christopher, Peri-Lynne, and Johanna. Being a mother was one of her greatest joys in life.
Kay was married to the love of her life, Robert, for over fifty years. They enjoyed their weekend drives in the convertible and touring the coast, visiting almost every lighthouse in Maine. She also loved crafts, whether it was making crafts with friends and family or visiting local craft shows. Kay was also an amazing cross-stitcher and enjoyed making keepsakes. She loved baking and enjoyed taking requests for one’s favorite treats. Kay loved her children and would make them care packages for every holiday, even the obscure ones. She was a member of Middle Street Baptist Church and a Sunday school teacher. Kay loved everyone but had a special place in her heart for children. She had such patience to let them explore their world. Kay had a positive and resilient attitude and did not let adversity dampen her mood.
Kay was predeceased by her husband, Robert Snow, both her parents, Dan and Lila Johnson, and her two brothers, Alan Johnson and Donald Johnson. She is survived by her three children: Christopher Snow (Joanne), Peri-Lynne McCartney (Dan), and Johanna Carey (Jon), as well as her beloved grandchildren: Jeffrey and Nicholas Snow, Shea, and Amelia McCartney and Rowan Carey.
The memorial service is on Tuesday, July 28th, at 11:00 a.m. at Middle Street Baptist Church in Portsmouth, NH. Following the service, Kay will be put to rest at Brooks Cemetery in Eliot, Maine. After the burial, the family welcomes guests to a time of refreshment at 2:00 p.m. at “The View at Pepperrell Cove” in Kittery Point, Maine. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association and The Gathering Place in Kittery, Maine. Care for the Snow family has been entrusted to J.S. Pelkey & Son Funeral Home.
