Kimberly
Martin
d. Oct 7, 2022
Kimberly Martin, 58, of Eliot, was surrounded by her family when she passed away on October 7, after fighting a courageous battle against ovarian cancer. Kim was the daughter of Mary Lou and the late Harry Martin of Greenland.
Kim spent her life actively working to improve the lives of others. Whether she was working on Eliot Festival Days or making dozens of holiday-themed masks to help make Covid a little less frightening for preschool children, Kim was always the first to raise her hand when a request for help went out in the community. Her volunteer activities are too numerous to mention and continued right up until the time of her hospitalization.
For many years, Kim worked as a waitress at Momma D's Casa di Pasta and Café Expresso but later decided to pursue work with children at Eliot Community Service Dept and Stepping Stones. When she learned she was pregnant with her son Eliott, she declared that his life was going to be "one big adventure," and she spent the rest of her life making that happen, usually in the company of her sister Lisa and Lisa's children, Katrina and Issac.
In addition to her mother, Kim is survived by her husband of 36 years, Ralph Place, and their son, Eliott. As well as her step-daughter Sarah Mills, step-son Joshua Place of Saco, and mother-in-law Carolyn Beckert of South Berwick. She is also survived by her siblings and their significant others Dean Martin of Ormond Beach, Tim Martin of Fort Lauderdale, and Lisa Martin of Dover. Equally important to Kim's Life were her lifelong friends Patti Martin of East Hampstead, Micki Smith of Greenland, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
In keeping with Kim's wishes, her ashes are to be scattered in the ocean she loved so much, and there will be no funeral. A celebration of Kim's life will be held at a later date.
If you are so inclined, please make donations in Kim's memory to the local food pantry of your choice or volunteer in your community.
