Eliot- Laverne M. Burridge 75,  of Eliot died June 25 after a brief bout with cancer.  Born in Gray ME on January 12, 1947, to the late Irving and Lilabel (Pousland) Cummings, she was the wife of Jack Burridge.

Laverne grew up in Eliot, graduating from Eliot High School Class of 1965, she graduated from Lynn School of Nursing Class of 1969.

Laverne worked at Portsmouth Hospital for a number of years, then went into private nursing for a patient in York, they enjoyed many trips together, one being around the world.

She worked for several years at Rochester VNA, then on to St. Thomas Aquinas High School for the next twenty nine years, not ready to retire she cared for the students and staff at St. Patrick Academy until she retired in 2021.

She loved to sew, made outfits for her grandchildren, costumes for plays at both schools, dresses, and anything you could make from cloth she made it. She also made jewelry.

In addition to her husband, Laverne is survived by her son, Michael Burridge of Dover, NH and Sara Burridge of Rochester, NH, Sister Gwen Mason of Berwick ME and brother John Cummings of Virginia and three grandchildren, Jannah Downs of Rochester, NH; Jack and Mikayla of Newburgh ME and her dog Chrissy, sister-in-law Terry Burridge of Arlington, VA and serval nieces and nephews

Friends are invited to visit with Lavernes family from 3-5pm on September 7, 2022 in the JS Pelkey and Son Funeral Home 125 Old Post Road Kittery Maine 03904, where a memorial service will be celebrated at 5pm.
