Obituary

KITTERY,  ME - Lawrence W. Tacy, Sr., 85, of Kittery, ME passed away peacefully on Wednesday December 23, 2020 at Portsmouth Regional Hospital.

Born in Athol, Massachusetts, on December 16, 1935, he was the son of Eldric and Agnes Tacy.

He was predeceased by his mother Agnes (Belsky); father Eldric Tacy; brother James Tacy, and beloved son Bill Tacy; along with many other loved ones.

He is survived by his loving wife Elaine Tacy (Franklin) of Kittery, the love of his life for more than 68 years; daughter Lori LeClair and husband Rick of Berwick, ME; son Michael Tacy and wife Melissa of Kittery, ME; daughter Cathy Watt and husband David of Chula Vista, CA; granddaughter Christy Harrison and great grandson Cameron Tuttle; granddaughter Kelly Gelsomino and husband Brett and newly arrived great granddaughter Eliana; granddaughter Ashley Labell and husband Kevin and great granddaughter Irie and great grandson Lennon; granddaughter Mandy Goodrich and husband Eric and granddaughter Ariana and grandson Eric; grandson Brandon Watt; granddaughter Sara Watt; and many treasured nieces and nephews.

Larry spent most of his early life in Kittery and graduated in 1953 from Traip Academy. In High School, it was love at first sight with Elaine, the beautiful Freshman girl in the blue gown. They married in 1955 and happily lived on Trafton Lane in their house proudly built with Larry's own hands while working full time at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard (PNSY). He worked on PNSY for 33 years starting as an Apprentice Pipefitter then moving to Inspection  and finishing his career in Code 365 as a Chief Test Engineer. He was very proud of his special accomplishment of installing the Shipyard whistle on top of the Building Ways! His legacy lives on!

Larry was a perfect loving Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Grampie/Papa, Great Grampie, Uncle, Cousin, Friend, Giver, Lover, Problem solver, Dancer, Consoler, Handyman, Inventor, Man of Faith, Lobsterman, Drummer, Family & New England Sports Fan, and (huge drumroll) Comedian. Every conversation whether it lasted one second or hours contained at least one joke, but most likely lots more! Making others laugh was one of Larry's passions!

A springtime Mass and Celebration of Life is being planned. May his laughter and love for life live on in all those whose lives he touched.  Cheers to Larry for a life Well Lived!!
