Somersworth Lew O. Fournier, 74, formerly of Portsmouth, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at the Wentworth Douglas Hospital in Dover. He was born on June 29, 1940 in Franklin, New Hampshire, a son of the late Alfred and Nancy Fournier. Lew was employed at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a scheduling supervisor and retired after 28 years of service in 1989. He also served in the Coast Guard Reserve as a Security Patrolman for 20 years with an honorable discharge in 1995. Lew had a passion for music. He played the piano and sang beautifully for many years. Among his favorite songs to perform were Frank Sinatra s My Way and Billy Joel s Lullaby. He loved to spend time in Las Vegas where he loved to take in the view from his time share overlooking the strip. Lew was also an avid golfer, enjoying the game with his sons and friends. He was also a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks in Dover. He is survived by his loving companion, Roberta Belanger; two sons, Gregg Fournier and wife Rachel of Somersworth and Keith Fournier and wife Carol of Rochester; a daughter, Leanne Schwartz of Rochester; a brother, Lee Fournier and wife Jeannine of Haverhill, MA; seven grandchildren, Tanya Ufkin, Heidi Fournier, Michael Schwartz, Barbara Schwartz, Heather Fournier, Sarah Fournier and Bethany Fournier; two great grandchildren, Arianna and Isabelle; and nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 11am on Wednesday March 11th at the First Parish Church, 176 West High Street, Somersworth. Family and Friends invited.
