Obituary

With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Linda June (Brashear) Lockart, who departed from this world on January 19, 2025, at the age of 74, one month to the date of her 75th birthday.

Linda was a beloved member of Eliot Baptist Church, cherished by family and friends for her kindness, generosity, and indomitable spirit.

Born on February 19, 1950, in Independence, MO.  Linda was the daughter of Dorothy E. Brashear (Lass) and Louis Brashear who preceded her. From an early age, Linda exhibited a passion for Jesus Christ, friendship, sewing, decorating, art, medical interests, and traveling.  Traits that would define their character throughout life. Educated at Liberty High School, Liberty, MO she was a dedicated A student who showed promise in music, English, and sewing.  Linda also graduated from Research Hospital's early Medical Records School with an accredited A.R. T. degree.

Linda's professional journey began as a "Candy Striper" then at Truman Medical Center, Kansas City, MO as Director of Medical Records where she quickly demonstrated her skills and dedication. Over the years, Linda contributed significantly to the Medical Records Field, in six different hospitals, and BCBS Kansas City, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and peers. Her work at Mercy Hospital, Portland, ME was particularly impactful, leading to advancements in paperless records.

In 1969, Linda married Gary W Lockart in Liberty, MO, for 55 years together they built a life filled with love and shared dreams. Their union was blessed with three children: Lance S., Chad E. and Kristin K, plus their spouses Charlene Cuatico, Guthrie Barr and four grandchildren, William, Max, Eloise, and Harrison. Linda was a devoted parent/Grandparent, always finding time to support and nurture her children's aspirations. Family gatherings were a testament to Linda's commitment to family values and traditions.

She was preceded by her parents, her younger brother, Terry Brashear, and her older brother Robert (Bob) Brashear. She is survived by her loving older sister Dorthy J. Sawyers, and her older brother Garry Brashear along with many nephews and nieces.

Beyond her career, Linda was deeply involved in her faith in Jesus Christ. She volunteered at her churches dedicating hours to causes close to their heart. Linda believed in giving back and worked tirelessly to improve the lives of those around her.

She is now pain free. but she will be lovingly missed.
