SOMERSWORTH — Lionel M. Thibeault 90, passed on Thursday, April 20, 2017.

Lionel was born on April 1, 1927, in East Rochester, New Hampshire, and was the son of Edward and Athala (Belleau) Thibeault. He spent his youth attending St Martin's Academy. Later he proudly served his country in the United States Navy.

For years, Lionel had been employed as a machinist with Colby Footwear in Gonic, New Hampshire.

Lionel loved to garden every summer. He was also quite the handyman; it was said that he could fix anything you gave him.  He especially enjoyed working in his garage tinkering.  One of his favorite projects was taking apart car engines and reassembling them.

Family members include his three sons, Leo Thibeault of Rochester, John Thibeault and his wife, Shonda, both of Strafford, and Lionel Thibeault and his wife, Dale, both of Barrington. Lionel leaves his daughters, Diane Plante and her husband, Kevin, and Cynthia Clark and her husband Richard, all of Dover. He leaves his sister, Pauline Impson. Lionel also leaves his 11 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. Lionel was predeceased by his loving wife of 58 years Florence; and his brother Robert.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 25, 10:30 a.m., in St. Ignatius of Loyola, St. Martin Church, 120 Maple St., Somersworth, NH. The family requests family flowers only. In lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made in his name to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave, 7th Fl,, New York, NY 10001.
