Berwick Maine-James Edward Lincoln, 69 of Lyman Street in Berwick died on April 27, 2016 at Wentworth Douglas Hospital after a courageous battle against cancer.
Born in Brockton Massachusetts on January 16, 1947 he was the son of James E Lincoln and Barbara A. Monast. He attended local schools graduating from Brockton High School.
Following high school Jim proudly served as a member of United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, where he was awarded the Purple Heart.
After his discharge from the United States Marine Corps, Jim continued his lifelong service to the public, beginning with the Somersworth Police Department serving there from 1974 until 1982 rising to the rank of Sergeant. His law enforcement career continued in 1982 after being hired as the Lieutenant for the Town of Berwick Maine Police Department where he served honorably until his retirement in 2001. Jim will certainly be remembered as a cops cop, seeing many changes in the field over his nearly 30 years of service.
Jim was an avid sports fan enjoying his beloved BC Eagles especially enjoying following Doug Flutie throughout his career.
He is survived by his loving wife of over thirty four years, Cheryl V. (Gillotti) Lincoln, his mother Barbara A. Monast of Kennebunk, his daughters Erin Lincoln and her husband Ben Moore, daughter Faith Lincoln and her sons Jordan and Sebastian, siblings Arthur, Linda, John, Jimmy, Cindy, Ruthie and Danny, he is also survived by his best friend Keith Hurd and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father James "Chuggy " Lincoln sisters Lorraine Kratzinski and his favorite aunt and uncle aunt Beverly and uncle Harold Hattie.
A Celebration of Jim's life with Marine Corps Honors, will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2016beginning at 6 PM in the House of Hope building (in the Square) at 6 Sullivan St., Berwick, ME next to Deb and Duke Monagrammars with the elevator located on the first floor. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105. Care for the Lincoln family has been entrusted to the Bernier Funeral Home.
