Portsmouth – David Nello Succi, 65 an active lifelong City of Portsmouth resident died on April 8, 2025 in Lahey Clinic following along a courageous health battle surrounded by his loving family.
Born in the City of Portsmouth on January 25, 1960 a son of the late Wallo "Nello" and Alice Succi, he attended local schools including graduating from Portsmouth High school with the class of 1978.
Dave went on to begin his lifetime of service to his country and community by serving for over eighth years in the United States Navy primarily aboard the HM-14 Virginia. Following his service to his country he returned to the City to raise his family along side his loving wife Bonnie (Potter) Succi.
He worked for many years as a dedicated member of the New Hampshire Department of Transportation, many of those years as a trusted foreman, leading and teaching younger members of NHDOT.
Dave was best known for his over thirty-two years as a dedicated, recognizable and trusted member of the City of Portsmouth Police Department. He spent many years as a familiar and jovial presence at nearly every public event in the City. He had a keen ability to connect with the public and gain the trust of his peers. Dave retired as at the rank of Auxiliary Lieutenant, commanding the Auxiliary Unit of the department.
A devout Christian who was very comfortable evangelizing and bringing others to the Lord, never shied away from an opportunity to share his relationship with God. David and his wife Bonnie were dedicated members of the family at Connect Community Church in Portsmouth.
As his children were growing, he enjoyed coaching many sports including hockey and basketball. He also enjoyed camping and travel.
He is survived by his loving wife Bonnie, Children; Brandon and his wife Barb Succi, and Ryan and his wife Ashley Succi, grandchildren; Isabella and Leonardo Succi, Gavin Emery, and Brandon Jr, Tatum, and Remington Succi, a great grandchild Jared Emery, brother John Succi and Sister Cathy Niles, as well as five nieces and six nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Wallo"Nello" and Alice Succi, sisters Barbara Porter and Carol Giles and a brother Paul Giles.
All are invited to join his family at his church Connect Community Church on Saturday April 26 at 11am to celebrate his life and honor his service.
