Obituary


Dover, NH - Lucille Deschenes Cater passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, June 22, 2019.

Lucille was born in Lisbon Maine on September 23, 1918 and moved to Somersworth in 1926.
She was queen mother of the local Red Hat Belles for 15 years, loved to travel and volunteered at her church and many civic organizations.

Lucille was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Attorney Leo Cater. She is survived by her three daughters, Celeste Plank, Pam Shedd and Angela Tarr and her son John Cater, and nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

Services: Visiting hours will be at Bernier Funeral Home on South Street in Somersworth on Thursday, June 27, 2019 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM, with a funeral mass at St. Ignatius Parish, St. Martins Church on 120 Maple Street at 3:00PM on Friday, June 28, 2019. A Christian burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Please honor Lucille's wishes in a celebration of her life, by wearing bright colors.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Somersworth Community Food Pantry, 176 W. High Street, Somersworth, in Lucille's name.
