Obituary

It is with broken hearts that we share that Marc Sichel died peacefully at home in Eliot, ME on September 29th, 2026 after a long battle with cancer.

Born to Pierre and Edna Sichel on March 20, 1951 in Stamford, CT, Marc spent almost his whole life in his beloved Sherman, CT. Marc worked many jobs before becoming a copy editor for The Litchfield County Times Newspaper in New Milford, CT, where he worked for over 20 years.

Marc was at first glance a quiet man, but had a deep, beautiful soul underneath. He was playful and sharp-witted but had no need to be the center of attention. If you took the time to listen, he would express thoughtful, profound insights and witty comebacks. He’d wait until everyone stopped talking, then slip in a perfectly timed quip.

His kind and gentle nature was obvious the moment you met him. He had simple tastes and found happiness in the things that mattered to him: the love of his family, nature, and his music.

He was incredibly creative in so many ways. He had a beautiful voice and was a talented bass player who strove to fulfill his need for music as long as he could. He was a crucial member of numerous local bands throughout his life, including Brother Jump, K-Man Band, Forever Einstein, Rustfarmers, Fedr’l Grant and his last band Funky Soul Trio.

Nature and being outdoors filled a lot of his life, whether it was catching critters, walking through the woods, examining tree leaves, cutting wood, or sharing his love for all things living - with his son Hugh, and his sisters, Renee and Gabrielle.

Marc loved deeply and was a steady presence in our lives. He was the rock that we stood next to, shoring us up when we needed it. He had a remarkable ability to see something good or special in everyone he encountered. He always saw beneath the surface.

He was deeply loved and his absence leaves an enormous emptiness for those who had the fortune of knowing him. Wherever he is, Marc is giving us the raised fist of “Power” to all.

Marc leaves behind his loving wife Jennifer, his son Hugh, his sisters Gabrielle Sichel of Cambridge, MA, Renee Wagenseil (Ross) of Clemson, N.C. and many other loved family members and close friends.

Power!
