Portsmouth – Margaret Whittier Nutter, passed away peacefully Monday, April 11, 2016 at the Clipper Harbor Home of Portsmouth.
Born in Caribou, Maine on October 9, 1919, she was the daughter of Carl W. and Evelyn H. (Tozier) Whittier. Margaret was a graduate of Portsmouth High School. She raised her family in Portsmouth. In 1956 moved to Eliot, Maine and enjoyed the community until moving to Clipper Harbor in 2012.
She wintered in Largo, Florida for several years. Hobbies included sewing, knitting, painting and playing cards. Bus trips around the country with friends was an activity she really enjoyed. Always enjoyed packing the neighborhood kids in the car and heading to the beach for the day.
Margaret is survived by her daughter Evelyn Harvey of Largo, Florida, her son Alan and Dara Redden of Eliot, Maine. Also three grandchildren that she loved, Cheryl Harvey and Tracy Clark of Largo, Florida, Kevin and Lynne Harvey of Simi Valley, California, Brian Redden and Jaime Alonzi of Newmarket, New Hampshire.
She will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Services: Friends may visit with Margaret's family on Saturday, April 16, 2016 from 10am – 12noon at the JS Pelkey Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Road, Kittery, Maine 03904 where a funeral will be celebrated at noon. A private family burial will be held at a later date in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Eliot. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Margaret's name to the Eliot United Methodist Church, 238 Harold Dow Highway, Eliot, Maine 03903 or to the charity of one's choice.
