Eliot- Marian E. Sprague, 79 of Tippy Lane in Eliot, formerly a long time resident of Wyman Ave in Kittery died peacefully on December 20, 2015 at her son and daughter in laws home.
Born on Wyman Ave in Kittery on October 29, 1936 she was a daughter of the late Joseph Harland and Eleanor Josephine ( Seward ) Adams. She attended local schools graduating from R.W Traip Academy.
In her early years she enjoyed working for her uncle at the "Do Drop Inn" Hot dog stand on the Kittery traffic circle, and working at cocktail parties in Rye Beach and the local area. She also worked in the library at R.W. Traip Academy, where she would meet and marry her loving husband Fred Sprague and together they enjoyed many years of travel especially enjoying time in their pop up camper visiting all over the country.
Her first love was her family, caring unconditionally for her son Tommy until his death in 1983. She loved to have family together and adored her grand and great grandchildren. She enjoyed attending the First Congregational Church UCC of Eliot, with her sister.
Marian is survived by her loving family, sons; Donald and Ruth Bowen of Eliot and Edward and Susan Bowen of Kittery, stepsons; Fred and Dolly Sprague and Jimmy Sprague, grandchildren; Jamie and Katrina Bowen, Amy and Ryan Conary, and Brittany Bowen, Eight beloved great grandchildren and four sisters; Grace Spinney, Arlene and George Barry , Ruth Littlefield, and Nancy and Murray Hoyt, her uncle George and his wife Barbara Seward, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Tommy Bowen, husband Fred Sprague, and her brother Harley Adams.
Friends may visit with Marian's family on Monday from 6-8pm in the JS Pelkey Funeral Home 125 Old Post Road Kittery Maine 03904. A graveside service will be celebrated on Tuesday in Brooks Memorial Park on State Road in Eliot at 11am.
