Dover, NH - Marilyn Joyce Melanson, 81, passed away peacefully at home after a long period of failing health on February 10 ^th , 2023 with her husband by her side.

She was born on March 19 ^th , 1941 in York Maine to Reginald F. and Bernice M. Muchemore of Kittery Point, Maine.  Marilyn was happily married for 60 years to Lloyd A Melanson.  She graduated from Traip Academy in Kittery and began working at JJ Newberry.  She went on to work as a sales clerk and eventually retired from Osco Drugs in Portsmouth.

Marilyn enjoyed watching sunsets, walks down to the water on Little Bay, gardening, cooking (she was known for her "famous" spaghetti sauce + meatloaf), sewing, and flowers. Most of all though, she loved seeing and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was a devoted wife, and mother and grandmother and will surely be missed by so many.  "She was my rock, and felt I was hers . . ." as (her husband) Lloyd put it.

She is survived by her children, Diane L. and husband, Denny Forcier; and Bryon S Melanson; 6 Grandchildren, Chris L. and his wife Heidi; Casey and his wife, Tania; Colbie, Aaron, Chris (Rocky), and Jonathan; many Great-great Grandchildren; Brothers: Richard Muchemore; Douglas and wife, Donna; David and wife, Linda Muchemore; Ronald Muchemore; Kenneth and wife, Gloria Muchemore; and many special cousins, nieces, and nephews

She was predeceased by two of her brothers: Reginald Muchemore Jr and Robert E Muchemore; and her two sisters: Shirley Rollins and Phillis Moulton.

Services- Friends and family are invited to a time of visitation on Friday, February 17 ^th , from 4 to 6pm at the J S Pelkey and Son Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Rd, Kittery, ME 03904.  A Memorial Service for Marilyn will be celebrated the following morning at 11am at J S Pelkey and Son Funeral Home, with light refreshments and sharing to follow.
