Obituary

Somersworth- Martha A Turcotte, 90 formerly a long time resident of Washington Street and Indigo Hill Roads, died on December 24, 2011 at Rochester Manor. A true native, she was born on February 25, 1921, a daughter of Edward and Analda ( Lamothe) Roy, raised in Somersworth, attended local schools and settled in Somersworth to raise her family and work. She married her loving husband Alphonse R. Turcotte and together they built a home on Indigo Hill Road in 1940 where they would raise their family. She was employed for many years as a fancy stitcher for several shoe companies, including Somersworth Shoe and Dutchess Shoe in South Berwick. Martha loved her home and her close group of friends, she enjoyed handiwork including knitting, and crocheting, to which her family, especially the grandchildren always enjoyed handmade special gifts from her. She spent many enjoyable times with her grandchildren. Day trips to North Conway for the Alpine slide and the like were always on the list of fun things to do with Nana. She loved animals; friends still visited her at the manor with their pets for her to shower them with affection. She was blessed with wonderful care from the staff of Rochester Manor and the Rochester VNA Hospice workers. Her first love was undoubtedly her family, she is survived by her daughter Jill Ann Malone of Somersworth, grandchildren Gary Malone and his wife Ivory, Edmund Malone and his wife Elaine, Jennifer Malone, Marianne and her husband Robert Lewis and Matthew Malone, great grandchildren Kasey, Lyndsay, Patrick, Hannah, Evan, Molly and Ella. She was predeceased by her siblings; sisters Pauline Hodgdon and Theresa Vasoli, brothers; Armand, Joe, Thomas and William Roy. A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday December 30, 2011 at 11am at St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish in St. Martin Church in Somersworth, with Rev. Michael Taylor as celebrant. A time of refreshment and sharing will follow in the church parish hall. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.bernierfuneralhome.net.
