Obituary

Somersworth- Mary Lorraine Dumais, passed away peacefully into the arms of Our Lord, at the Riverside Rest Home surrounded by her family on April 4, 2017.

Mary was born Dec, 31 1920, in Haverhill, Massachusetts. The daughter of David J. Dionne and Eva E. Dionne. Her step father, Arthur J. Frenier was the only father Mary ever knew.

Mary was married to Armand Fernand Dumais on October 5th, 1940. They were married for 58 years. They had four children, three daughters and one son Dennis R. Dumais who died in 1982 in New York City. Her daughters are Jeannine E. Dagenais of Rollinsford, NH; Jacqueline A. Merrill of Sebring, Florida; and Janet Y. Wilson of Lake Placid, Florida who passed away in 2012.

Mary was predeceased by her husband Armand, in 1998 and her brother, Leo J. Dionne of Fort Worth, Texas, In 1978. Mary and Armand had ten grandchildren, sixteen Great-Grandchildren, and four Great-Great-Grandchildren.

Mary worked at General Electric in Somersworth for 27 1/2 years. She retired in 1981 after a bad hit and run accident.

Mary belonged to different organizations including F.O.E. Catholic War Veterans, a lifetime member of the Rod & Gun Club, GEEA association, Farmington Fish & Game Club. She was very active in the American Legion Auxiliary as an officer in District 3; she also served as state chairman in Department of New Hampshire, belonging to Rockingham Salon #264 of the Legion. Mary was also selectman in Ward 5 in Somersworth for six years. Mary worked as a volunteer for both Frisbie Memorial, and Wentworth Douglass Hospitals, weekly for over two years. Mary joined the Women of the Moose in Rochester in 1984 and transferred to the Dover chapter in 1985. She held chairs: Sentinel 1988-89, Junior Regent 1989-90, Senior Regent in 1990-91, Junior Graduate Regent 1991-92. She received degree in Academy of Friendship and Green Cap and later received her College of Regent Degree.

Services- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Tuesday April 18,2017  at Saint Martin Church of St Ignatius of Loyola Parish, 120 Maple St., Somersworth, NH. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to Alzheimer's research. Family flowers only. Care for the Dumais family has been entrusted to the Bernier Funeral Home.
