Eliot-Maureen Healy Hankin, 64 of Bolt Hill Road in Eliot died on October 12, 2016 at her home.
Born in Portsmouth on October 8, 1952 she was the daughter of Daniel G. And Alberta (Wortman) Healy. She attended local schools graduating from Portsmouth High School in 1970.
She married her high school sweetheart William Hankin on June 22nd, 1974 and together they lived for a time in Connecticut while he served in the US Navy. They returned to the Seacoast where they would settle in Eliot in 1978 and raise their family. Maureen worked at the shipyard in Connecticut and at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for a time before raising her family. When her children were older she worked for Chubrich and Harrigan as a legal secretary for many years.
When her children were young she enjoyed camping and family trips, she enjoyed handi work especially crocheting, sewing, and for many years she made ceramics, sharing many pieces with family.
Her first love was unquestionably her family, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and will be dearly missed by them as well as her loving husband William of Eliot, mother Alberta Healy of Portsmouth, sons Jason and his wife Jennifer Hankin of Gilderland, NY and Patrick and his wife Elizabeth Hankin of Eliot, grandchildren,Will, Natalie, Kayleigh, and Nolan, a aunt Beulah Addorio of Portmouth and many neices, nephews and cousins. Special thanks to her friend Grace and the other devoted caregivers from York Hospital Homecare.
Friends are invited to visit with Maureen's family on Sunday from 4-6 pm in the JS Pelkey Funeral Home 125 Old Post Road Kittery Maine 03904. A memorial service will be celebrated on Monday at 10 am at the funeral home with the Rev. Elizabeth Hoffman officiating.
