Obituary

Alfred- Maurice "Moe" Ferland, 72, of Alfred, ME passed away Friday, July 3rd at his home after a sudden illness. He was born in Sanford, ME on June 13, 1943 to the late Joseph and Pauline (Charrette) Ferland. He was the youngest of eight children. Moe attended school in Sanford, ME. On April 11, 1964 he married his sweetheart, Irene (Morin) Ferland and together they raised four children. Moe was employed for many years at General Electric, working in Transformers, in Somersworth, NH. In his early years he enjoyed working in the garage, whether it was doing bodywork and paint or just fixing vehicles. He had a love for gardening, wood working, fishing and hunting and he always took pride in a beautifully manicured lawn. He enjoyed riding his four wheeler with his son and other family members. Moe always had a story or a joke for everyone and anyone that would listen. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and had a knack for figuring out anything. He will forever be missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Irene. His daughter, Brenda and husband Dale Doucette of Berwick, ME. His son, Command Sergeant Major, William Ferland, (whom is currently deployed in the Middle East) and his wife Joni of Somersworth, NH. His twin daughters, Shelley and husband Matt Amidon of Lebanon, ME and Sherry Lord of Lebanon, ME. His grandchildren, Zachary, Jacob and Kayla Doucette. Tori and Haley Ferland. Colby and Emma Amidon and Veronica and Hunter Lord. His great grandchildren Alexis and Madison Doucette. His sister Rita Nichols of Sanford, ME. His brother Rene Ferland and wife Jackie of Dover, NH. His Aunt Bertha Charette of Sanford, ME and many nieces, nephews, cousins and his faithful and loving companion, Molly. Moe was predeceased by his parents, brothers: Raymond and Lucien. Sisters: Francis Greene, Lillian Charrette and Majella Cyr and his grandson Lance Lord. The funeral will be held Thursday, July 9th with a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 10:00am at St. Martin's Church in Somersworth, NH by his cousin Rev. George Desjardin of Hooksette, NH. The burial will take place at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.bernierfuneralhome.com .
