KITTERY, Maine - Maurice L. Patch Sr., 89, of 33 Tilton Ave., died Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at the Edgewood Center in Portsmouth, N.H., with family by his side. Born on May 5, 1929, in Kittery Point, he was the son of Wallace Sr. and Marion (Tobey) Patch.
He graduated with honors from Traip Academy in 1947, and received a degree in Accounting from Becker College in Worcester, Mass.
Maurice worked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for 34 years and retired as Head of Cost Accounting in the Comptroller Department. He enjoyed playing sports, was an avid sports fan, especially the Red Sox. He loved classic Country music and playing his guitar. He enjoyed his flower garden, going on cruises, and going out to dinner with his daughter and friends. He also enjoyed spending winters with Beverly in Florida's Gulf Coast.
He grew up very poor, yet always wanted to help and give to others. He truly had a huge heart. He treated everyone well and was extremely well liked and respected. He will be remembered for his kindness and generosity. His children feel very fortunate to have had the world's best Dad.
His biggest love was spending time with his family and friends. He had some very special people in his life, including Beverly Papoojian, Jacquelyn Emery, Richie Fieler, Gordon Cutten, Ted West and Bob and Avis Saunders.
He is survived by his daughter Linda Patch of Kittery; his son Maurice (Bud) Patch Jr., of Kittery Point; grandson David Patch and great-granddaughter Gabriella Patch of Barrington, N.H.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Phyllis (Tilton) Patch, his brothers Wallace Jr., and Chester Patch, his sisters Mildred Tetherly, Dorothy Fernald, and Annie Higgins.
SERVICES: Visiting hours will be on Friday, September 21, 6-8 p.m. at the JS Pelkey Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Rd., Kittery, Maine. The funeral will be held Saturday, September 22, 2018, at 11 a.m., at the funeral Home.
