Obituary

Merle V. Molasky, 95, a long-time resident of Eliot, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2026, at Watson Assisted Living in Dover, NH.

Merle was born in Portland, Maine, the son of Arthur and Myrtle (Hanscom) Molasky. He lost his mother at age 2 and was raised by his father and stepmother, Ruth (Crawford) Molasky. He attended schools in Portland and Gorham, Maine, and graduated from Gorham High School in 1948. On October 28, 1950, Merle married Linda Dougherty, and together they raised five children.

Merle was a machinist by trade and worked in machine shops in Maine, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire. He retired from Moore Business Forms in Dover, NH, in 1995. For relaxation, he enjoyed playing golf and boating with his family, but his greatest love was singing. He sang in church, at social gatherings, for weddings, in minstrel shows, with the Reginald Dunlap ministries, and anywhere else he could be of service with his voice. His singing was often an expression of his faith and love for God. That faith was of great importance to him as his strength diminished. He is survived by daughter, Pamela Milliken and husband, George, of Newmarket, NH; son, Dwight Molasky and wife, Fannie of Portsmouth, NH; and son,

Steven Molasky and wife, Lois, of Brentwood, NH; grandchildren, Stephanie Mask and husband, Sean; Stacy DuBay and husband, Frankie; Brian Burnham and wife, Pamela; and Erik Molasky; seven great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Linda; his parents; his brother, James M. Molasky; his daughter, Lynell M. Breiding; his son, Vincent A. Molasky; and his life companion, Thelma Hutchins. The family would like to thank Dr. Nathan Jean and the staff at Kittery Family Practice, the staff of Watson Assisted Living, and Cornerstone Hospice for the wonderful care provided to Merle.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Bethel Christian Church, 129 Lower Main Street, North Berwick, Maine 03906.
