Eliot – Mona E. Berounsky, 81 of Heritage Drive in Eliot died on February 3, 2018 at her home following a period of failing health.

Born in Groton Vermont on December 22, 1936 she was a daughter of the late Alphonse "Jack" and Ruth ( Goodwin ) Busky.

She was raised in Vermont until her junior high years when her family came to Kittery and she attended local schools including graduating from R.W. Traip Academy with the class of 1956.

Mona married her loving husband of nearly fifty two years Richard " Dick " Berounsky and together they spent time living in Illinois for his employment before returning to the Seacoast, living in, Portsmouth, Newington and settling to raise their family in Greenland. In 1986 they would relocate to South Eliot where they would make their home together until Dicks death on 2008.

Mona was trained and worked for a time as a nurses aid, she worked at DaMart and for over twenty two years she enjoyed working at Market Basket in Portsmouth, as well as her time spent working along side her husband Dick as the bookkeeper at Jerry Marina in South Eliot.

A number of years ago they semi retired to Florida living in Pine Island and Silver Springs. She was an avid Bingo player who loved Christmas movies, Gardening around her home, playing card games with family and friends, knitting hats and mittens and feeding and watching the birds and squirrels at her home.

Mona is survived by her daughters Tracey Berounsky and her husband Travis Benson of Eliot and Robin Berounsky and her partner Jason Porter of South Berwick, four grandchildren Samantha, Lincoln, Thomas and Rowan .

Friends are invited to join her family for a funeral on Saturday February 10 at 11am in their JS Pelkey Funeral Home 125 Old Post Road Kittery, Maine 03904.
