Obituary

Muriel L. Foley,92, of Kennebunk, passed away after a brief illness on July 12, 2023, at Durgin Pines nursing home in Kittery.

She was born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire on February 25, 1931, the daughter of Earl Barnaby and Sarah Waldron and spent most of her adult years in Kittery, Maine where graduated from Traip Academy in 1949 and where she raised her family with her husband and high school sweetheart, Stephen Foley. Together they shared 69 years of marriage.

She is survived by her sister Jean Walker of York, two sons, Earl Foley of Alfred, ME., Robert Foley (Maryanne) of Wells, ME. a daughter Patti Powers (John) of Somersworth, N.H.; grandchildren Stefan Foley of Alfred, ME., Patrick Foley (Whitney) of Wells, ME., Peter Foley (Lauren) of Sudbury, Mass., and Chelsea (Kailey) of Rochester, N.H.; great grandchildren Bentley, Ayla, Brannan, Shea, Carter and Kinley; several nieces and nephews and extended families.

She is pre-deceased by her parents, husband Stephen, daughter-in-law Judith Foley, granddaughter Lerin Foley, brothers-in-law Richard Foley, Bradley Foley, Raymond Foley and Robert Walker.

After raising her family Muriel worked a Kimball's Department Store in Portsmouth, N.H. and the First National Bank of Maine in Eliot where she enjoyed meeting and greeting her customers.

Some of her happiest memories were spending time at the family camp on Balch Lake in Newfield, ME., where she enjoyed entertaining family and friends for many years. She was especial happy to host the annual family get together where family from all sides would gather for a great day of fun and food.

Muriel loved life and enjoyed her many friends she met along the way. The family wants to thank the many friends and staff at Huntington Commons in Kennebunk where she lived independently until her recent illness. Thanks also to the staff at Durgin Pines who provided kind and wonderful care during her stay there. We especially want to acknowledge and thank her niece, Kathy Holt, for the love, compassion and care she provided our mom during these past several months, Muriel and the family appreciate all you provided for her.

Services – Friends and family are invited to a Time of Visitation from 5pm to 7pm, Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at the J S Pelkey and Son Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Rd, Kittery, ME 03904.
