Eliot, ME - Myron "Dean" Magnuson of Eliot, Maine passed away on January 15, 2019 at the age of 80 at Hyder House in Dover, New Hampshire.
Born to Arvid and Helen Magnuson in Escanaba, Michigan on February 27, 1938, he entered the US Air Force in September 1956 and performed 20 years of service, retiring as a Master Sargent in 1976. He was a Vietnam Veteran. Following his military service, he worked for the Civil Service at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard (supply division) until his retirement in 1993.
Dean was a woodworker, designing and building pendulum clocks, tables, and bookcases. He built a hope chest for his daughter and cabinet for his son. He enjoyed building replicas of boats. Dean was a Mr. Fix-It, who could modify anything to work more efficiently. He enjoyed taking long rides on his motorcycle, fishing with his brother-in-law, and camping with family at 4 Seasons Camp Ground on Long Lake in Naples, Maine.
Dean was predeceased by his parents and siblings, Marvin, Manford, Millie, Marion, Margie, and Merida. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Sharon Magnuson of Eliot, son Curtis Magnuson (Judy) of South Portland, daughter Christy Holt (Christopher) of Stratham, New Hampshire and grandaughters: Lauren, Erica, Whitney, and Cali. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Hazel Magnuson and many nieces and nephews in Michigan, Minnesota, and California.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hyder Family Hospice House 285 County Farm Road, Dover, New Hampshire.
Services - Per his request, there will be no service. However, visiting hours for family and friends will be on Saturday January 26, 2019 from 4pm - 6pm at J S Pelkey Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Rd, Kittery, ME 03904.
Care of the Magnuson family has been entrusted to J S Pelkey Funeral Home.
