Obituary

Parker Humphrey of York Maine died peacefully surrounded by family on March 30, 2019.  Born on September 20, 1948 he was predeceased by his parents Parker and Irene Humphrey of Beverly MA and by his sister Pamela Hendry.  He graduated from Danvers High School in Danvers, MA in 1967.  Having a love for the ocean Parker enlisted in the US Navy in 1968, serving his country in Vietnam.  He was married to his high school sweetheart for 50 years, Georgiana (Anne) Humphrey of Marblehead MA.  After returning from the Navy Parker worked in the retail hardware business while completing a degree at Newbury College.  He then began his career in the cleanroom industry; eventually establishing and operating his own design and build cleanroom construction company.  He enjoyed being a mentor and employed many family members in his business including his three children.  In 1991 Parker and Anne purchased the York Corner True Value Hardware store in York, Maine.  He truly loved his time spent in a historic barn helping customers.  In 2004 he opened a second store where he worked full time, Central Paint and Coatings in Dover NH.  Parker enjoyed sharing his knowledge of the paint and hardware business that he always had a passion for.  Parker was a master craftsman, with no job ever too small, his spirt of ingenuity showed in every project he took on.  Parker's dream came true when alongside his wife they built a new home on the land they share with their three children.  He was an avid bird hunter in his younger years, built his own boats and taught his two sons to hunt.  As a member of NH Ducks Unlimited, he served as State Chairman for two years.  Parker enjoyed long rides on his motorcycle and tinkering in his workshop.  He always had a project going and worked tirelessly in his workshop up until a few days before he passed.  Parker was a lifelong learner who was always enthusiastic to share his knowledge.  He loved gathering with his family and friends, appreciating good food and wine.  He loved to cook in the kitchen with his daughter during the holidays and thought of himself as the master chef.  Parker touched the lives of so many with his generosity, knowledge and kindness.  He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.  Parker leaves behind his beloved wife Anne, his daughter Jodi and her husband Christopher Cucco, his son Eric and wife Jennifer, his son Peter and wife Sarah all of York, as well as five beautiful grandchildren who fondly called him Bubba.  He also leaves a large extended family and many many friends.  A Celebration of Life is planned for Sunday, April 28, 2019 from 2-5 p.m. at the Wiggly Bridge Distillery formally York Corner True Value Hardware, 441 US Route. One, York Maine.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his name to the Dover Mounted Patrol, 46 Chestnut Street, Dover NH, 03820.
