South Berwick- Patricia " Patsy" Cheney, 74 of Young Street in South Berwick passed away on March 19, 2022 at Wentworth Douglass Hospital in Dover following a period of failing health.
A daughter of the late Harvey and Gloria (Chagnon) Mick, she was raised in South Berwick, attended local schools and raised her family in South Berwick.
Patsy retired from the Rockingham County Sheriffs office and joined the South Berwick Police Department, where she served many years as the familiar face downtown every morning directing traffic in the Central School crosswalk and the square. She was often the smiling face that started many childrens school day and enjoyed the many children and families over the years. Early in life she worked at the Irving in Wells as a bookkeeper . While raising her family she enjoyed her dogs and most recently her cat Ginger and her birds Willie and Hector. She is survived by her family including two daughters, Heidi Tetu of Farmington, Robin Murphy of Gonic; two sons, Robert William Tetu, Jr. of Federal Way WA and William Tetu of Sanford ME; a brother Harvey Louis Mick Jr. and his wife Rita of Rollinsford, a sister Pam Darling and husband Brian of Rochester; eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.and many coworkers.
A graveside service will be celebrated on March 31, 2022 at 4pm in the New Town Cemetery in Rollinsford, NH. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Pope Memorial SPCA or the American Cancer Society.
