Obituary

It is with deep love and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Patricia Kansas, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who left this world on Sunday, August 24, at the age of 85. While we mourn her absence, we also take this moment to celebrate the remarkable life she lived, the love she gave, and the joy she brought to all who knew her.

Born on October 29, 1939, Patricia was the beloved daughter of the late James F. and Mary E. (Smith) Lannon, the sister of the late Thomas J. Lannon and Edward E. Lannon, and the aunt of many nieces and nephews.  A beacon of warmth and kindness, her infectious smile and compassionate nature touched everyone who met her. Patricia devoted her life to her family, her community, and her passions, always putting others before herself and leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those she encountered.

As a loving wife, Patricia shared a deep and enduring bond with her husband, Thomas Kansas. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and a sense of adventure. Her devotion to her family was unwavering, and her son, Scott Kansas, daughter-in-law Andrea Kansas, grandchildren, Taylor Kansas, Madison Bookhart, and Jordan Bookhart-Holderfield and husband Will; and great-grandchild, Wesley Bookhart-Holderfield, were the center of her world.

Patricia had an innate ability to make others feel valued, whether it was through a listening ear, a kind word, or her infectious sense of humor. She loved to be around her friends and family, sharing meals, stories, and memories. Her home was always filled with warmth, and her spirit will forever live on in the countless memories she created by sharing the interesting experiences she had when she worked in the Foreign Service

Beyond her role as a mother and wife, Patricia's passion for volunteering and teaching brought her great joy, and she used her innate talents to brighten the lives of everyone she came into contact with. Patricia's legacy is one of love, generosity, and strength.

Though Patricia may no longer walk among us, her spirit will forever be with us. In the way she loved, in the way she cared for others, and in the way she embraced life with open arms, Patricia's presence will remain a source of light for all who were fortunate enough to know her.

A celebration of Patricia's life will be held on Friday, August 29, at Saint Raphael's Church at 11 am. We invite all who knew her to join us in remembering her legacy, sharing stories, and honoring the remarkable woman she was.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the  American Lung Association, a cause that was near and dear to Patricia's heart.

Patricia, you will be forever missed but never forgotten. May you rest in peace, knowing that your love and laughter will live on in all of us.
