Patricia Marion Witham, age 97, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on February 20th, 2025. She was born on December 2, 1927, the daughter of Merritt and Marion (Shuttleworth) Shapleigh. Patti was a graduate of Eliot High School. In 1961, she married Justin E. Witham, the love of her life. Together, they made their home and raised a family in Eliot. They were married for 53 years until Justin's passing in 2013. Patti worked at Brown's Jewelry Store in Portsmouth, NH, for many years before attending beauty school and then opening Pat's Beauty Shop at her home in Eliot. Justin and Patti enjoyed many summers at their beloved camp on Great East Lake in Wakefield, NH. They were known for their hospitality, sharing their home and camp with many family and friends.

When Justin retired in 1988, they moved to the Villages in Lady Lake, Florida, where they lived for 15 years. They also enjoyed traveling in their motorhome, returning to Maine each summer to visit family and friends. As time went on, they decided to return to Maine to be closer to family. As luck would have it, they were able to repurchase their original home and enjoyed many more years there.

Patti was a St. John's Episcopal Church member in Portsmouth, NH. She also had a special place in her heart for the First Congregational Church of Eliot, where she attended her great-grandchildren's performances and pageants and worked alongside her sister, Marcia, at various fundraisers.

Patti is survived by her daughter, Helen Nelson; son, James Witham; granddaughter, Holly Nelson; son-in-law, Scott Nelson; and great-grandchildren, FeliCa Nelson, Brandon Nelson, and Ella Nelson-Daley. She is also survived by her sister, Marcia Goss, brother, William, and his wife, Pat Shapleigh, sister-in-law, Nancy Shapleigh, and many nieces and nephews. Patti was predeceased by her son, Dick Witham, granddaughter Nicole Nelson, brother, Merritt Shapleigh Jr. and sisters, Marjorie Bailey and Carolyn Hale.

Family and friends are invited to a graveside service at 11 AM on June 3, 2025, at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Eliot, Maine.
