Obituary

Eliot - Paul E. Houle Sr., 73, died at home, Friday, January 15 th , 2021, surrounded by his family after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. He was born on April 12, 1947 to Reginald and Lillian Houle of Raymond, NH.

He graduated from Raymond High School and was a member of the soccer team that won the NH State Championship in 1963. He went on to UNH and received a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry. Paul retired from IBM in Endicott, NY in 2002.

Paul was an accomplished award winning brewer and a member of the Broome Co. Fermenters Society. He had a great love of the outdoors and was an avid hunter. Paul was a member of Pheasants Forever and cared deeply about preserving habitats for wildlife. He loved to cross-country ski and camp in snow caves in the Adirondacks.

One of Paul's greatest joys was being Santa for his grangirls and friends and neighbors, especially for the Apalachin Lions Club and Special Olympic athletes. Paul loved doing pig roasts for family reunions and special events bringing him great pleasure.

Paul and his wife, Mary Ellen were members of St. Margaret Mary Church for 40 years, where Paul was an active volunteer for fund raisers.

Surviving family members include his wife of nearly 54 years, Mary Ellen (Perkins) Houle:, his son Paul E. Houle Jr., and his wife Lisa of Apalachin, NY, daughter, Jennifer Latta and her husband Fernando, of Eliot, ME, granddaughters; Isabella and Sofia Latta of Eliot, ME, Kristina Houle of Little Meadows, PA, and Kayla Houle, of Oneonta, NY : and a  great granddaughter, Harper. He is also survived by his sisters; Joyce Neilson of Altamonte Springs, FL , and Janice Roux of Raymond, NH.;  as well as many nieces and nephews.

A memorial Mass and celebration of his life will be held at a later date when public health conditions allow for a gathering. To leave online condolences please visit www.jspelkeyfuneralhome.com .
