ELIOT – Penelope "Penny" Raeside passed away on Monday, April 16, 2018, at the age of 78, in York, Maine. She was born on November 5, 1939, the daughter of Robert and Mary Elizabeth Raeside, and grew up in Eliot. She joined the Baha'i Faith at age 17, and spent her life loving and giving to people.

Penny attended Eliot High School, then graduated from the University of Maine in 1963. She traveled extensively for her faith internationally. She moved to the Southwest and taught on the Navajo Reservation for many years. She met Morgan Willis in the mid-1980s, beginning an important friendship that lasted almost 25 years, until his passing in 2008.

After living in Georgia for 20 years, Penny returned to Maine in 2006, where she lived for the remainder of her life. She loved working for the benefit of others, and served at many events for the Eliot Lions Club.

She is survived by her sister, Meredith Dame (husband Kenneth) of Eliot, Maine; brother Robert Raeside (wife Alice, and family) of Eliot, Maine; niece Jennifer Stevens (husband Ande, daughter Kate, son Jack) of Reno, Nev.; and nephew Russell Dame (wife Evgeniya) of Eliot, Maine.

Penny was much loved and will be dearly missed.
