Obituary

Somersworth - Pete passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones, on July 22, after a hard, year long fight with cancer.

Pete is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Nancy (Lavoie); his loving grandchildren, Jason Veno, Jacob Porter and Lydia Stone; children, Scott and Corey Porter, and Sue and John Stone; brothers and sisters, Rick and Marge Banchansky, Glenn and Maddie Tooth, Paul Tooth, Mark and Lisa Damico, Marty and Joanne Pepin, Bob and Bev Lavoie, and Rick and Rosie Lavoie; his extended family, Doris Lavoie, Roger Porter, Donna Porter and Skip Pepin. Many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and good friends.

He was pre-deceased by his parents Peter and Elizabeth Schug, and Roger and Louise Lavoie; brother Michael Schug; nephews Chris Pepin and Steven Tooth.

Pete loved all things outdoors, especially his cabin in the woods. Some of his favorite times were spent at camp with family. He was always up for fishing, four-wheeling and the solitary, quiet lifestyle the cabin presented his family. He enjoyed wood turning and wood working; his bowls and birdhouses were coveted. He made many friends while working at Lonza in Portsmouth, and he thought about them often during the last year. He always talked about wanting to return to them. He had an incredibly gentle, kind spirit. He was honest to a fault. We will always remember his quick wit, unique sense of humor and his contagious laugh that got quieter the funnier he found something.
