Eliot- Philip N. Lytle Sr, 78 of Beech Ridge Road in Eliot died on July 30, 2022 at York Hospital following a period of failing health.
Born and raised in York Maine,Philip was known to many as Butch, Philip, Grampa, dad and squirrel was loved by all. He loved his Lord Jesus Christ and wife of forty five years Janice.
Butch was known as a man of integrity and service, dedicated to his family, church and community. Phil loved the outdoors, teaching others how to hunt and fish. He loved family vacations and spending time at family get togethers. He loved sitting in his chair and riding in the golf cart with his beloved dog Harmony and was a true animal lover. You could always find him spending time at camp with his wife, trout fishing morning and evenings and playing cribbage in between, enjoying the nick names "Squirrel and Nut".
He proudly served our country in Vietnam in the NH Army National Guard and held membership in the Eliot American Legion Post #188.
Phil was a foundation member of the Eliot Community, active in volunteer and town leadership roles. He was a member of the Eliot Board of Selectmen for eighteen years, serving as chair for a large portion of the time. His role as a community leader allowed him to actively work toward acquiring land to expand the town forrest as well as many other philanthropic projects and programs . He was a past director and assistant director of the towns Emergency Management Agency, a dedicated Scout leader and soccer coach, member of the Board of Appeals, recycling committee and was the manager of the Eliot Transfer Station for thirteen years after his retirement from Davidson Rubber as a supervisor for forty years. He was also an active member of his beloved Eliot Baptist Church where he served as a member of. The facilities committee.
He is survived by his loving family, his wife Janice (Hichens) Lytle, sons;Philip Lytle Jr. and wife Gretchen, son Ray Grover II and wife Debbie, daughter: Jannette McFarland and husband Jim, son Dana Grover and wife Denise, son Andrew Lytle and wife Sarah. Grandchildren; Katlyn and fiancé Josh, Josiah, Taeyanna and fiancé Doug, Kayleigh, Rachel and husband David, Tyler Norman, Ryan and wife Jenna, Aaron and wife Ashley, Katie and husband Tyler, Jason, Colin, Aidan, Emily, Dana Jr., Dakotah, and Abigail.Great grandchildren; Kooper, Andrew, Caroline, Samuel James, Dakota, Nalla, Parker, Kendra, Chloe, Connor, Jackson and Carter.Brothers; Charlie Lytle and wife Shirley, Robert Lytle and wife Linda, Sister: Donna Cole, sister in law's Florence Lytle, Kathy Lytle and Linda Lytle. Sister in law Mary Alessi and husband Mike, Jared Hichens and wife Marilee, Judy Potter, Kathy Tuttle and husband Ervin, Bethany Seidman and husband Dan. Sister in-law Jane Hichens as well as many nieces and nephews, and many other family and friends.
Phil was predeceased by his Mother and Father Fred Sr and Maybell Lytle, In laws Senator Walter and wife Elmira Hichens, sister Beverly Mack, brothers, Fred Lytle Jr., Roger Lytle, Carl Lytle, Wayne Lytle, Bradley Lytle and brother in-law Walter Hichens Jr.
