Somersworth- Phyllis M. (Raymond) Dumas, 93, a long-time resident of the towns of Somersworth and Dover, NH, died of natural causes Friday, August 19, 2016.

Born in Lynn, MA on March 24, 1923, Phyllis was the daughter of Adelard Joseph and Muriel (Smith) Raymond. After moving to NH following the 8th grade, she was a 1941 graduate of Dover High School and went on to Secretarial School at McIntosh Business College.

In 1945, Phyllis married Paul E. Dumas and they had two sons, David and Darrell Dumas. All predeceased her. She is survived by her grandson James and his wife Michelle Dumas, of Wakefield, NH and her great-granddaughter Nicole Dumas of Somersworth.

Phyllis worked for more than two decades at Pease Air Force Base, where she was the private secretary to several Generals and the Director Division Commander.

Phyllis loved socializing and had a smile that could light up a room. She was an active community member, with memberships in the Golden Age Club and Red Hat Society, as well as a life membership in the Department of NH Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary for which she served in many elected and appointed positions such as State Commander and Unit Commander.

A calling hour for friends and family will be held Wednesday, August 24 at St. Martin Church of St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish, 120 Maple St.,  in Somersworth beginning at 10 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 AM.
