Born November 1st 1942 in the town of St Germaine, PQ Canada. Presently called Lac Etchemin. She immigrated to Somersworth New Hampshire in 1959 with her family

She was the second oldest of 14 children born to Mr Joseph Faucher and Mrs Rollande Mercier Faucher, both now deceased. There were nine girls and five boys.

She married Laurent “Larry” Gaudreau September 2nd 1961 in St Martin’s Church on Franklin Street in Somersworth NH

She met many French speaking women friends in a woman’s religious organization at Saint Martin’s, most of which became lifelong friends. She learned English after moving to the US and became a proud US Citizen!

They had four children Marc, Brenda, Daniel now deceased and Guy. They have eight grand children, many great grands and one fifth generation great, great grandson.

Rachel left school early in Canada but obtained her GED in New Hampshire and graduated from Gauvin’s Beauty School in Dover NH and established her own beauty shop known as “Rachel’s Country Curl” in 1976 In South Berwick Maine which she operated for over 20 years.

She became an avid knitter and knitted many fancy sweaters for her family. She also knitted personalized Christmas stockings for everyone in her family and a number of friends and relatives.

She was also an avid seamstress who sewed little girls dresses and skirts for 3rd world countries through an organization known as “Dress a Girl Around the World”. The total donation count to date exceeds 1000, a remarkable achievement! She also founded a group in her winter home in Florida to create additional dresses and skirts for these poor girls. Her name is spoken at virtually every Dress A Girl Northern New England meeting because of her design of “Rachel’s Skirt” a true testimonial!

She was a second Mother, in all respects’ except biological, to a number of other women who needed her support and compassion throughout her life!

She was a remarkable person who could read people very well. Her love for her husband, family and others never faltered. She was a very caring and giving person.

She stayed close to her friends and family in Canada throughout her life.

She and Larry traveled considerably within the States, Canada and in Europe. They wintered in Bradenton Florida for many years after retiring.
