Kittery Point, ME - Raymond J Arris, 87, died suddenly but peacefully Monday December 28. Born March 1 1928, he was the only son of Elsie D Arris. Ray grew up in Leominster MA and has lived in Kittery Point ME since 1972.
Ray was a World War II Veteran, serving in the 82nd Airborne, and attended Boston University on the GI Bill. He was an Industrial Engineer and Management Consultant for many years before retiring early to be a stay at home dad to his two youngest children. For the past several decades, Ray prepared tax returns for a small number of clients. Ray enjoyed traveling and visited many parts of the world, satisfying his deep curiosity about diverse cultures, cuisines and World Cup Soccer.
Ray is survived by his life partner of 35 years, Mary Thron, his daughter Lyn Wetherbee of Huntington, IN and her husband Winfield, son, Scot Arris of Kittery Point, ME, daughter, Lisa Sellers of Holliston, MA, son, Nunzio Thron of New York City, NY, and daughter, Giovanna Thron of San Francisco, CA; grandchildren, Todd Wetherbee of Fishers, IN and his wife Dana, Ian Wetherbee of Huntington, IN, Jason Sellers, Brendan Sellers and Leah Sellers all of Holliston, MA; great grandchildren, Jared and Jenna Wetherbee of Fishers, IN; former wife Jean Arris of Kittery Point, ME.
Ray was a big believer in education. Should you wish to make a donation in his name, the family suggests that you donate to the educational institution of your choice.
A celebration of life will be held in the spring; the date has not yet been determined.
