Obituary

Raymond William Moore, age 94, of Somersworth, NH, passed away peacefully from Dementia Alzheimer's disease on Friday, June 13th, 2025, after a short stay at Watson Fields extended living home in Dover, New Hampshire. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Pat C. Moore, after 72 years of marriage.
Raymond William Moore was born on January 23, 1931, at his family farm in Somersworth, NH. He was the ninth of eleven children born to Francois and Maria Moore. He enjoyed life with his siblings: Madeleine Demers, Thérèse Thibodeau, Marie-Ange Moreau, Jeannette Veno, Lucille Desilets, the last remaining sibling; Gérard Moore, Julien (Bob) Moore, Alice Gagnon, Richard Moore, and Laurent Moore.

With unwavering love and passion, Raymond and Pat Moore gave the precious gift of life to five sons: Michael, who passed away in 2009; Gary (68), who is married to Etleva; Ronald, who passed away in crib death in 1958; James (64), who is married to Pamela; and Dale (59).

Dad accepted Christ at an early age when he attended the Assumption Preparatory School to enter a seminarian pre-program for the priesthood. After seeing the sacrifice his father was making to support his studies, Dad withdrew from the preschool program.

Shortly after Dad graduated from Somersworth High School, he enlisted in the United States Air Force on December 8, 1951. He attended initial basic training at Barksdale AFB, LA, and completed his engine maintenance technical training at Sheppard AFB, Texas. On December 7, 1955, he completed his four-year military commitment, repairing SAC airplane engines at Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho. Dad loved the military, and he cherished the friendships, honor, and respect he received and shared with the men he served with. Throughout his later years, Dad would enjoy talking about his military experiences and pondering what life would be like if he had chosen to reenlist.

While he was on a 30-day leave from the Air Force, Raymond and Pat Thibodeau were married on May 30th, 1953, in Sanford, ME. Shortly after the wedding celebration, Mom and Dad embarked on a 3,000-mile cross-country return trip to Idaho, driving a 1947 Plymouth. The Plymouth was 6 years old and did not have a spare tire; somehow, with the grace of God, they made the challenging return trip to Mountain Home Air Force Base.

In 1955, Dad and Mom returned to Somersworth, NH, where he resumed work for General Electric and enjoyed a 42-year career. He enjoyed working with his hands, repairing factory equipment, and performing maintenance when needed. Later, he was promoted to a foreman, where he managed the main line final Meter Assembly Line. Dad retired from General Electric (GE) in 1991.

Dad had several hobbies, including golf and following sports, specifically the New England Patriots football, the Boston Red Sox baseball, and the Boston Bruins hockey. However, his true passion was to help others. God blessed Dad with many handyman skills. He enjoyed helping friends and family, especially if it saved them a few dollars. He started with a few basic tools, such as a hammer and a skill saw , purchased with S&H Green Stamps. Dad was not a rich man, but he was willing to share what he had with others.  A typical summer Saturday would be spent in his garden behind his mother's house, working the ground to help yield a plentiful harvest in the fall. At harvest time, he would share his vegetables with friends, family, and the pastor of St Martin's church.
During the winter months, Dad eagerly awaited the snowfall; he would then travel down Cemetery Road with his 12 HP Cub Cadet tractor, equipped with a snow blower attachment, clearing many driveways for people who did not have the means to do it themselves. His service extended to his workplace at GE, where he organized the Christmas Angel Tree to support every child who was in the Rochester Orphanage. His efforts brought joy to many children on Christmas morning.

Shortly after Dad and Mom retired from General Electric (GE), they purchased a home in Zephyrhills, FL, where they escaped the New England winter months in paradise for the next 27 years.

Throughout Dad's life, he was loved and blessed by family, friends, and the unending love of the lord God. We could not be prouder of the man our Dad was. May he enjoy God's love and blessings for all eternity.
