Obituary

Raymond (Pee Wee) Toussaint, 82, of Somersworth passed away quietly at Riverside Rest Home on June 17, 2014. He was born August 6, 1931, the son of Eudore and Cora (St.Armand) Toussaint. He joined the United States Army in January 17, 1953 and served in the Korean War. After his Military Service he worked at Great Falls Bleachery, Somersworth Shoe and General Electric in Somersworth. He began working at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in December 1961 in Shop 71. He retired a General Foreman August 13, 1986. He was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church, Somersworth. He was an enthusiastic Red Sox fan and coached minor and little league baseball in the Berwick/Somersworth League for many years. He was a life long New York Giants fan, surrounded by Patriots fans. He was an avid cribbage player who taught most of his grandchildren how to play. Raymond was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Theresa Toussaint, also of Somersworth. He was the loving and devoted father to his five children: Dianne Verge, of Somersworth; Sandy Blanchette, of Somersworth, Dennis Verge and his wife Susan, of Somersworth; Robin Wentworth, of Rochester and Lori Lennon, of Somersworth. He is survived by his sister, Mrs. Agnes Jones of Lebanon, Maine and his brother, Mr. Richard Toussaint of South Berwick, ME. He is predeceased by three brothers and four sisters. He was the proud Pepere to eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He has many cousins, nieces and nephews who will miss him. Visiting hours are Monday 11:30 to 1:00 followed by a funeral service at 1pm in Bernier Funeral Home 49 South St. Somersworth, NH. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Raymond s family would like to thank Riverside Rest Home and its devoted staff for the many years of dedicated care to him and his family.
