Real C.
Roseberry
Jun 15, 1931 — Mar 31, 2024
Somersworth - Real C. Roseberry, 92, passed away peacefully at his home on March 31, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born June 15, 1931, in Thetfort Mines, Canada. As a young child, he and his family moved to Somersworth, NH. Real married his wife, Beatrice LaFay, of 73 years, on January 13, 1951. He entered the Army in 1952 and bravely served overseas in Korea under the command of the 8th Army. He often enjoyed reminiscing about his time in the service. Upon returning home, he was employed by General Electric, where he worked in several different departments until retiring in 1989. During his retirement, Real lived out his passions such as taking care of his horse, Helen, and harness racing with his brother, Florian. Later, he developed another passion, for politics. Real is especially known in the community for the many years that he campaigned to have the Somersworth tax cap voted in. This dedication earned him the nickname "The Tax Cap Man." He was also called upon by many local politicians to assist in their campaigns. In his later years, Real enjoyed dabbling in the stock market, spending time at the Sanford OTB, or simply relaxing in his chair with his dogs while watching TV. Real, truly a great man, will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Real is survived by his wife, Beatrice, along with his sister Ghislaine Bickford, son Steve and wife Marla, daughter Lisa and husband David Pridham, and daughter Darla April. He is survived by his grandchildren; Joshua and wife Heather, Amanda and husband Joshua, Jamie and Chris, Nicholas, Casey, Cody and wife Morgan, Taryn and husband Noah, and by his great grandchildren; Cameron, Mason, Aida, and Raegan. He is also survived by many close nieces and nephews. Real is predeceased by his brothers Arthur, Florian, and Eugene, his sisters, Rosie Zubkus and Jeannette Smolik, and his son-in-law Robert April.
