Eliot- Richard Field, 73 of State Road in Eliot died on August 21, 2024 at Gosnell Memorial Hospitce House following a period of failing health.
Born in Exeter New Hampshire on October 26, 1950 he was a son of the late Albert and Marguerite (Walsh) Field. He attended local schools graduating from Exeter High School.
While coaching a little league game in 1988 he was blessed to meet and marry his loving wife Barbara (Steeves) making Eliot their home for many years.
Dick began his work career at LaPearl's Construction for a time before making the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard his career for over forty years working in Shop 64 as a Shipwright. He enjoyed working with and making many friends over the years as well as travel to California, Scotland and Hawaii before retiring in 2013.
He enjoyed going on family moose hunts - lucky to have won the moose lottery 6 different times, he also cherished times deer hunting, camping, traveling up to the county and riding the logging roads with his wife Barbara.
Dick enjoyed gardening, he grew the best tomato's and made the best sauce in the winter each year.
Following his retirement, he spent a lot of time with his beloved grandson lucas, fishing, and milling around the yard with the dog tater. He enjoyed cooking and making and sharing his tasty chowders. As his health deteriorated he was blessed to remain in his own home by his family and wonderful caregivers Laura, Krystal, Alex and Errin.
Dick is survived by his loving family; daughter, Amanda Field, daughter and son in law Sarah Field and Karl Bostrom, Stepdaughter Tina and her husband Clayton Baum, Grandchildren, Lucas & Madeline Lohndorf , a brother Timothy and his wife Deborah Field and Many cousins and family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents and his loving wife.
Friends are invited to visit with Dicks family on Wednesday September 4 from 3-5pm in the JS Pelkey and Son Funeral Home where a Memorial Service will be celebrated at 5pm.
