Somersworth, NH - Richard J. Grassie, 74, died peacefully at home with his family by his side on August 16, 2015. Born Sept.27, 1940 in Somersworth, he was the son of John and Alva (Roy) Grassie. Richard was raised by John and Jeannette(Tanguay) Grassie following the death of Alva. He was predeceased by his brother Gerry Grassie. Richard worked at Davidson Rubber in Dover NH for 40 years. Richard was a veteran of the U.S Army, proudly serving during the Vietnam War era, stationed in Frankfurt, Germany where his only child Carin was born. Richard enjoyed watching his grandson's play baseball, watching Sherlock Holmes movies and going to the diner (Cyn's) in the early morning to put out the flag and to poke fun with all his buddies. Richard is survived by his daughter, Carin Mudrick her husband Bill of Dover; grandsons Maxx and Christopher; sister Sylvia Costanzo and husband Sam of Lakewood, NY; brother Roland and wife Alice of Somersworth, sister Gloria Entenmann and husband Steve of Portsmouth; Sister-in-law Pat Grassie of Somersworth; numerous nieces and nephews. SERVICES: There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Sept. 26 at 11AM at St. Martin's church in Somersworth, a celebration of his life planned for the following day, September 27, at 11:00 at Richard's Home on 16 Spring St, Somersworth.
