Obituary

Richard J. "Rich" Landry, 91, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2014 at St. Ann's Nursing Facility in Dover where he resided for the past three years.

He was born in Somersworth to Odilon and Eva (Laliberte) Landry. He was predeceased by his brother, Ernest.

Rich was a communicant of St. Martin Church and a member of American Legion Post 69.

He was a good and honorable man/. He has gone to meet his Lord (and long departed hunting buddies).

He enlisted in the Marine Corps at the beginning of World War II.

He did his training at Camp Lejeune, NC and in San Diego, CA.

He spent most of his military service in the Pacific Theater. After the war, he returned to ask Mariette Daigle to marry him, had she said "No," he would have returned to the Corps.

They would have been married 68 yeas this May.

He is survived by his wife, their one child, Carol and her husband, Jeff Allard, two grandchildren, Carl and Angela, two great grandchildren, Dane and Brittany, two great-great grandchildren, that he recently met.

He enjoyed woodworking, having made large planes and boats for his grand kids to enjoy. His other pleasure was deer hunting, with lots of weekend trips spent in the White Mountains with his buddies.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff for the care Rich received. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Rich's memory to the Activities Fund at St. Ann's 195 Dover Point Road Dover, NH 03820

There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday April 9 th at 11am at St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish in St. Martin Church, Somersworth with Rev. Michael S. Taylor, pastor as celebrant.

Burial with military honors will be at a later date in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
