Kittery-Richard Douglas Ogilvie passed away unexpectedly Friday July 21st, 2017 at the age of 65 while in Maine visiting family and friends. Known by many as Rich, or Ogg, he was a truly legendary man who will be sorely missed.
Raised in Kittery, ME where he made many life-long friends. Always up for an adventure- hitchhiking across the country (multiple times) and joining the Navy as a submariner to see the world. Returning to Kittery, Rich worked as a Rigger at PNSY and started a family. He thrived as a father, raising his two children with grit and work ethic, tough but just, and loved them fiercely. His primary goal as a father was to have his kids be better than the best version of himself. He was an active member of the community, coaching Kittery Rec Softball and Basketball, attending his children's sporting and school events. After retirement he moved to New Port Richey, FL where he made many new friends and reconnect with old friends.
Rich enjoyed a daily routine that included a hot cup of joe with his local cohorts to solve the world's problems one sip at a time. Always willing to help out a friend in need and lend a listening ear. He loved traveling to tropical destinations with hot sunny beaches and ice cold drinks, reading novels and the local newspaper, working daily on crossword puzzles and giving unsolicited advice.
Survived by his children, Alex Ogilvie and his partner Jenna Gorecki of Rye, NH; Elizabeth Ogilvie Pelletier and her husband Philip Pelletier and grandchildren Zoie and Zane of Wells, ME; brothers David Ogilvie (Carol Ogilvie) and Peter Ogilvie (Gail Ogilvie). He joins his parents David Ogilvie and Edith Mercer Ogilvie in the land of the remembered.
Celebration of Life for Richard Ogilvie will be held Saturday July 29th, 2017 at Paddy's American Grille 27 International Drive Portsmouth, NH from 12pm to 4pm. A casual attire party to share stories and laugh just like he always wanted.
