Eliot-Richard R. Place 80- formerly a long time resident and business owner in Eliot, died on March 19, 2015 in Kennebunk following a long period of failing health. A true native of Eliot he was born on June 23, 1934 to Guy and Hazel ( Grover ) Place. He attended Eliot Schools and served his country as a member of the United States Army. Dick was a lifelong construction trades worker, owning and operating Place Poured Foundations for many years. He was an enthusiastic fan of all New England Sports teams especially the Boston Bruins. His children and grandchildren are left with many memories but the strongest will be a Johnny Cash song, a John Wayne western and a poker or cribbage game that had to be played until Dick won. Richard is survived by his former wife Jean ( Lorenzini) Place, children: Raymond, Richie, Randy, Raylene, Jeffrey. Grandchildren: Rebecca, Jessica, Nicholas, Tyler, Matthew Great granddaughter Eliana Grace, siblings; Calista Baker, Theodore, Arthur, Ronald as well as several sister in laws and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his infant sister Alice-May, sister Debbie LaMontagne, brothers Guy and Leon. Private Family Services will be held in the spring.
