Eliot- Richard Elmer Pruett , Jr, 86 of State Road, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on October 9, 2021. He was born in Eliot on January 16, 1935, the son of the late Richard E. Pruett Sr. And Lela (Dame) Pruett.
He was a lifelong resident of Kittery/Eliot Maine. He was a graduate of R.W. Traip Academy in 1952. He worked in a local grocery store for fifteen years prior to working at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. A Mason for over fifty years, he was past Master Councilor and Charter member of William Whipple Chapter Order of DeMolay, Past Dad Advisor and recipient of DeMolay Chevalier Degree and Cross of Honor for many years of service. He served as an NRA Rifle Instructor for DeMolay for many years, He is a member of Naval Lodge #184, Royal Arch Chapter #73, Maine Council #7, St. Amand Commandry #20 and Kora Temple Shrine.
Richard is a member of the Sons of The American Revolution, through sixteen linear ancestors . He is a lifetime member of the Mayflower Descendants through three linear ancestors and lifetime member of Piscataqua Pioneers through several more linear ancestors. A lifetime member of the Sportsman Alliance of Maine, and the Maine Bow Hunters Association, the North Berwick Rod and Gun Club and both New England and Kittery Maine Historical Societies.
Richard was an avid hunter, and enjoyed fishing, archery, horticulture and spending time with his family.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Judith R. (Place) Pruett. He is survived by his daughters Karen Webster of South Berwick and Sandra Garrett of Northwood, NH and a son Stephen Pruett of Eliot, six grand and five great grandchildren, two sisters and one brother.
A graveside service will be celebrated with Masonic Honors on Friday October 15, 2021 at 11am in Brooks Memorial Park in Eliot.
Family flowers only, donations may be made in his memory to the Shriners Hospitals for Children or St. Amand Commandry Eye Foundation in care of the Kora Temple Shrine.
