Richard James Starbard, 80, of Kittery Point, ME died at Wentworth Douglass Hospital in Dover, NH on Thursday, September 14, 2023, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Rich was born in Springfield, MA on July 2, 1943, son of the late Della and Albert Starbard. He attended local schools, graduating from Cathedral High School in 1962. Rich spent over 30 years as a Produce Manager working primarily for A&P food stores. Rich retired at age 75 after working part time for Hannaford Supermarket in York, ME.
Rich was an incredibly caring husband, father, stepfather, and grandfather. His true love and passion in life was spending time with his wife of 34 years, Linda, at their beautiful home in Kittery Point. They enjoyed driving along the picturesque Maine coastline together with frequent trips to Long Sands Beach in York to watch the waves or eating lunch at Nubble Light. Rich also enjoyed walking the trails in Fort Foster State Park, watching a good Red Sox game, and keeping up with the stock market.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Ruth Stroup, and Dorothy Donnellan; and his brother, Thomas Starbard.
Rich is survived by his loving wife, Linda Starbard of Kittery Point; children, Richard Starbard, JR. of Wilbraham and Kelly Starbard of Lady Lake; stepchildren, Laura Wright of Northampton, Debra and son in-law Scott Favreau of Portland, Gary Jambazian of Rocheport, and Ann and son in-law George (Jed) Moore of Newburyport; Grandchildren, Robert, Ryan and April Starbard, Kyle (Sydney) and Kathryn Wright, and Ada, Willow and Hazel Jambazian.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Rich's life on Friday, September 22, 2023, from 11am until 1pm in the JS Pelkey and Son Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Road Kittery, Maine 03904. A service will also be conducted at 1pm.
