Obituary

SOMERSWORTH-Rickey Cooper passed away on Friday October 9, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on July 22, 1958 in Jamaica Plains, Massachusetts. He was the son of the late Retha Cooper who he was devoted to all his life. Rickey lived in the Boston area until he moved to Somersworth in 1999. He attended college in Boston and earned a degree in accounting. He had been employed by the University of New Hampshire for the past fifteen years where he was well known and well liked. Rickey had a great smile and a warm heart. He was a dapper dresser and his fellow co-workers often referred to him as the "man from GQ". His favorite holiday was Halloween and he would go all out designing his costume. He usually won a prize every year for his original creations. He loved to travel especially to the Caribbean and Central America. He loved watching movies both at theaters and at home. He was a gifted designer and had a real talent for clothes and living spaces. He spent time when he was younger designing clothes in Boston. Rickey is survived by his partner, Donald R. Routhier, of Somersworth, NH, his son, Colie Beasley, of East Boston, Massachusetts, and his brother, Sam Cooper, of Roxbury, Massachusetts. He was predeceased by his mother, Retha Cooper, and his brother, Eddie Cooper. A Celebration Of Rickey's Life will occur on Sunday October 18, 2015 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at his home located at 6 Joyce Street, Somersworth, NH. Anybody who knew Rickey is invited to stop by. Arrangements are under the care of Bernier Funeral Home in Somersworth, NH.
